It honestly feels like even if the comparisons between Mao and Trump are accurate, it will fly over the head of most American people.
Most people (Inside and outside of the USA) knowledge of political and economical theory is razor thin *at best* and if they were asked to give an accurate definition of communism and capitalism they would either give a very simplified definition or to resort to symbols and slogans.
So as long as you package your ideas with the American flag painted over them you could sell even communism to a non-trivial amount of Americans who see communism as “The thing with the Red Flag on Russia and Asia”.
