Madeleine McCann Group Theory

Madeleine McCann was a 3 year old British child that disappeared from their hotel room on the date of May 3 2007 whilst on a family holiday. It is mainly believed that she was abducted however there are many theories that the parents were involved in the abduction.

After reading about this abduction with my friends, me and my friends made a group to investigate the disappearance of Madeleine McCann and have decided to present our 2 years worth of work.

To begin with our investigation, we would like to point out some KEY-details about the case.
-The hotel room that Madeleine McCann & her family stayed in was a ground floor room.
-Every door except the patio door was left unlocked for convenience.
-The McCann’s left for dinner with family friends at 8:30pm until 10pm but repeatedly checked on their kids every 30 minutes.
-The last time that Madeleine McCann was spotted was around 9pm by Gerry McCann, the father of Madeleine McCann.

Now, to begin. The last time Madeleine McCann was truly spotted was at 9pm and was uncovered to have disappeared at 10pm. This leaves a 1 hour window from 9pm till 10pm in which Madeleine disappeared. This tells us that within that hour, something definitely happened to Madeleine. Additionally, we know that the only door left unlocked by the McCann family was the patio door and that there were no signs of forced entry at any door.
Additionally, we know that the point of entry..was the patio door and the point of exit was Madeleine McCann’s bedroom window was it was open and could only be opened from the inside.

Another key point to this case, is that in Addition to the McCann’s checking up on their kids, their family friends also checked up on their own kids throughout the dinner. Since the patio door was the point of entry, the kidnapper clearly had to have knowledge of the patio door being open. This can only be possible if they had prior knowledge to the patio door being unlocked or visibly saw the patio door being unlocked by Gerry McCann.

This leaves us with 2 possible theories, that either someone on the table of that dinner played a role in Madeleine McCann’s abduction or that a bystander saw Gerry McCann leaving from the unlocked patio door and noticed Gerry McCann not locking the door and going back to his dinner. However, Its much more unlikely that it was a random bystander due to the following reasons:

during the abduction, it was clear that only Madeleine McCann was targeted and that this abduction was pre-meditated specifically for her. This is clear due to the fact that Madeleine is much older than the rest of the children in the room, heavier to carry and harder to kidnap. However, even though these facts were clear to the abductor he still decided to abduct Madeleine McCann which would only be done if they were set on Madeleine McCann. Additionally, it’s clear that the abductor knew their way around the hotel room and knew the patio door was unlocked. The only way one could access the information that the patio door was unlocked is by being close to the McCann’s and with them at dinner as only family friends had the information that the McCann’s checked on their kids every 30 minutes and would access the hotel room through the patio door.

Additionally, the abductor could have only been proficient in navigating the hotel rooms by having one of their own, clearly shown when there was no attempts of forced entry from outside the bedroom window but was from the inside, telling us they knew the bedroom window could only be opened from the inside.

This leads us to believe the abductor was one of the family friends and that the abduction could have occurred during the time period when one of the family friends went to check on their children after 9PM.

How she was abducted: we know that the abductor entered the McCann hotel room through the patio door and abducted Madeleine McCann. But how did they do it? After reviewing the investigation we saw that the sniffer dogs that the police brought it had found interest in the living room sofa. This could point towards the fact that at some point in the abduction Madeleine McCann was placed onto the living room sofa. The reason is most likely that the abductor had to do something during the abduction. After making some hypothesis we came up to this conclusion: The abductor entered through the patio door and went into Madeleine McCann & her sibling’s bedroom, picked her up with her awake and placed her on the living room sofa with it being no issue she was awake as she trusted them and had no issue with them being in the hotel room. Then opened the window from the inside, then proceeded to pick Madeleine up and escape out of the window with her, hand her off to an accomplice as we know the hotel room was extremely close to the road near the hotel room and went back to the dinner acting normal which could be entirely possible and achievable with the correct planning.

The possible reason of the abduction: After some more investigation, we have unfortunately come to the conclusion that it was due to pedophilia. This is due to Madeleine McCann being a young girl that could easily be manipulated making her a prime target for a person that has pedophilia within them.

Possibilities of who did the crime:

Matthew Oldfield: Mathew is a close family friend to the McCann’s and was there whilst on holiday with the McCanns. What made him stick out to us as the highest likely option was the fact that he voluntarily volunteered to check on Madeleine McCann even though her own parents were there to check on her. Additionally she disappeared after he checked on her and stated “he didn’t fully enter the room” which makes 0 sense since why would he volunteer if he wouldn’t put any effort in to check on her. Another key point is that this check happened at 9:30ish leaving a small 30 minute window from when she was seen till after she disappeared making him the most likely suspect.

Russel O’Brien: Russel is also a close family friend to the McCann family and had his own child on the holiday with them. He often went to check on his own child, giving him a few opportunities to do the abduction. Making him a possible suspect too.

Overall: Matthew Oldfield’s behaviour and actions raises serious questions and concerns and details him as a serious person of interest within our theoretical analysis.
