After the peace deal signed between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda last month, peace talks in Doha have now advanced to the point where Congo and M23 are able to make deals to end the violence and suffering in Eastern Congo. That said, several issues serve as sticking points to any possible deal that could be brokered, such as the matter of reopening banks in rebel-held territory. Personally I’m somewhat doubtful an acceptable peace deal will be reached within the one month timespan stated however hopefully it shall be resolved in a manner that protects the civilians of the Congo and allows the millions already displaced to return to their homes in peace without fear of fighting or violence.

  2. Unlikely, the DRC government has recruited tens of thousands and rearmed itself to the teeth. We are likely going to see a major war in the next couple years.
