Y’know how in Game of Thrones we went from “Winter is Coming” to “Winter is Here”? This is happening with climate change and there’s no Arya Stark to cut down the GHG king and save us. This year has seen across the world severely abnormal climatic pattern, “once in a lifetime” heatwaves that may as well become a yearly occurence, thousands of climate refugees forced to leave their homes that may soon sink beneath the waves, above average ocean temperatures in most of our oceans, tropical storms, economic disruption, and tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands dead. Add to the pile now surges in the price of food across the world. This is bad both for economies as food price shocks increase inflation beyond the management of central banks and can cause serious economic damage to nations but also it means consumers are eating less and less healthy food which in turn causes a whole bevy of horrible second-order effects such as leading to poor physical and mental development in children. At this point I would hope it is clear to all who have eyes to see and a mind to think that climate change is an existential threat and that we must band together to stop it at all costs.
