The fact that George H.W. Bush worked with the Japanese after escaping cannibalism is still crazy to me. If I found at that parts of my army had almost eaten a US president I am not sure I could trust the president to be reasonable about current alliances and yet he was.

**”According to Museum Founder & Curator Barry Levenson, you can blame it all on the Boston Red Sox.** In the wee hours of October 28, 1986, after his favorite baseball team had just lost the World Series to the NY Mets, a disconsolate Barry was wandering the aisles of an all-night supermarket looking for the meaning of life. As he passed the mustards, he heard a voice saying: *“If you collect us, they will come.”* Barry bought a dozen jars of mustard and at that moment resolved to amass the world’s largest collection of prepared mustards.

He continued his work as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Wisconsin during his early years of collecting mustards. While in Washington, DC, to argue a case before the U.S. Supreme Court, he spied a jar of mustard (right) on a discarded room-service tray in the hallway of his hotel and took it for his collection. “I argued a case before the Supreme Court with a jar of mustard in my left pocket,” he says. “We won!” Moments like that cemented his unwavering devotion to mustard. In 1991, Barry left the law to devote himself full-time to collecting mustards and mustard memorabilia.”

did this man’s schizophrenia convince him into collecting mustards?

I’ve seen coping on twitter about a pill that showed trump’s approval rating with gen z collapse that it’s because trump isn’t right wing enough. Is this in any way accurate or is it just cope

I always find pro-social-media progressives sorta weird especially the way they absolutely bristle at the implication that social media could be bad for young people’s mental health. I feel like they’re still stuck in the optimistic Arab Spring era where we thought the internet would make us all more caring and solve all the world’s problems instead of turning everyone into insane extremists and conspiracy theorists.

  5. why does the entirety of western social media think that defending Zelenskyy = defending Ukraine? Why is there this MAGA-esque “dear leader surely knows what he’s doing here, trust the plan” mentality?

Been interesting as a fan following The Marias and Magdalena Bay. I saw them both last year (September and August respectively) and they were of comparable fame levels. Pic at the bottom with the timeframe I saw them marked.

Since then, The Marias had a song go nuclear on TikTok and now they’re the #163 artist on Spotify. Meanwhile MagBay has been decently successful and is opening for Billie Eilish nowadays.

The difference in audience reception is interesting. I saw MagBay again like two months ago and they were bigger but the audience was basically the same. Billie Eilish fans absolutely hate them, reportedly.

Meanwhile clips I’ve seen of The Marias, the audience seems to treat it like a photoshoot almost, everyone wearing the same monochromatic fashion and then standing dead still during the opener (rude) and dead still during The Marias except they’re recording on their phone.

It’s kinda interesting seeing two bands that had similarly hyped audiences a year ago be on opposite sides of the “Gen Z sucks for concert openers” coin

I remember a year ago when rumours swirled about Hunter hanging around the White House and having his old man’s ear. The DT/BT was very nervous about that at the time. lmao

I have my second final exam in 3 hours. Given I only have 2 final exams this term, I’m ready to have it done. I feel both very confident and extremely nervous at the same time.
