    Rail infrastructure (at least mainline routes) is just kinda one of those things that really should be nationalized. Like power lines, or roads. They work better as single entities. That being said, allow private carriers to run on them all day.

    There is no way this would be allowed under any sort of sane regulator so they have to get this done now.

  3. I can not describe how AIDs this is going to be for the train industry. When we should be increasing the number of trains, pushing truck traffic onto trains, and doing more short distance hauling. The US is now going to be making the existing system even worse.

    Get ready for the 5 mile long train that flips over at 5 mph in Chicago and dumps 1000 tons of poison onto the South Side.
