I never understood why they were sweet on it to begin with. There was this whole weird era of all these state officials and mayors talking about making Texas or their cities big on crypto… but they never really said how or why that’d be beneficial. I mean, it’s not like every place is jockeying to get a new Bureau of Engraving and Printing facility built, and they’re the ones that make the real literal money that makes the world go ’round. It’s not like they were gonna skim a little off the top of every transaction or new coin mined or whatever. What the hell was the end game? Cui bono? You get a few data centers and a ton of demand for electricity, so I guess the electric providers were thrilled?
