Interested for the thoughts of this sub on this poll's findings. As someone who's had mixed feelings about continuing to support the war effort in Ukraine, I've heard the argument that Ukraine should be funded as long as its people want to keep fighting.
But the poll finds a clear supermajority of Ukrainians are war-weary and, at minimum, think the status quo is unsustainable. Does the change the calculus for anyone in this sub that we should rethink weapons shipments to Ukraine?

A poll that asks if the Ukrainian people wish to see a negotiated end to the fighting without going into further detail about specific concessions is frankly irrelevant
There’s a hell of a difference between giving up the four provinces claimed by Russia vs freezing along the contact line with an international peacekeeping force, and a hell of a difference between Ukraine being allowed to conduct an independent foreign policy over enforced “neutrality”
All wars end by negotiation. Japan negotiated even after being nuked. Yes, the negotiation was “surrender or die” but that’s still a negotiation.
Russia is not advancing all the way to Liviv and Odesa so there will have to be some form of talks to eventually end the war even if Ukraine drives Russia fully out of all of Ukrainian land
Unless they ask questions like “what concessions do you think Ukraine should make in exchange for peace” I’m not sure how useful this poll is, except maybe as a barometer for optimism within Ukraine.

Without context of what a negotiated end looks like it’s a pointless poll.
I’m sure Ukrainians are exhausted by continued war, and I have a strong feeling the average Ukrainian would prefer to have some semblance of a normal life and be indifferent about how that happens. THIS IS EXTRAPOLATING, just want to make that clear.
Unfortunately, I don’t think any peace deal would be the end of conflict. Like, I imagine Russia might agree to peace just to strengthen their position and reinvade.
Putin doesn’t recognize Ukraine. This wasn’t a conflict over some grievances. It was unprovoked and will keep happening. However, this is also up to the Ukrainians imo if they would prefer to concede.
It’s been 3 years of open war in Ukraine, with the Eastern half suffering 11 years of conflict. They say they want it negotiated but what exactly they would be willing to negotiate is a different question that wasn’t asked by Gallup.
Ukrainians seem to understand their predicament with Trump’s return. NATO and EU accession is a pipe dream. Approval of USA leadership is in the gutter (73% to 16% Disapproval/Approval). But they still believe the US should be a major participant in peace talks along with the EU and UK. Approval of Germany has been rising as USA swung widely up and then down. China and Russia are a no-go for Ukrainians (8% and 1% approval)
So it seems Ukrainians are tired of the war and want it to end to return to normal (or as close as they can). But peace can’t be made until all participants agree it needs to end. And Russia through Putin seems determined to run the clock stringing Trump world along as they continue their genocidal war. Trump seems to have caught on and has changed his tune since his return. Though I’m expecting another change in tune after Putin sweet talks Trump in-person.
