You ever get the feeling AI isn’t some shiny new toy, but something the military has quietly had for decades? Turns out, that might not be far from the truth

The U.S. DoD, for instance, created Project Maven back in 2017 an AI system built to analyze drone footage, highlight targets, and feed info back to weapons systems for human confirmation , and way before that, the U.S. military used AI tools like DART in the early 1990s just to plan logistics and supply routes, meaning AI was already baked into military operations long ago ,heck, military funding has been a driving force behind AI research for over 70 years

So why does it feel like we’re only now seeing AI? Probably because the public versions ChatGPT, Bard, etc, are just the tip of a much bigger iceberg. Some people argue that what we’re calling advanced AI already shows “frontier” or even emerging AGI characteristics. Others say GPT‑5 is a big leap forward but not quite full AGI yet

What if the military already has AGI or something close and is just drip feeding safer, less powerful versions to the public? Could it be that AGI has quietly influenced governments or even society for a while now?

It sounds like a conspiracy theory, but the timeline is there: decades of AI in defense, followed by suddenly impressive public models. Doesn’t that feel a bit… convenient? Gps and the internet was already decaded in use by the military before the public gets it

Pair that AI technology with advancements in Satellite imaging.
The KH-11 being from the 70s and having a publicly disclosed resolution of 10cm per pixel. Then when tech really starts taking off after the launch of the satellite. I’m convinced they can read the date off a penny from space as they say. But more realistically be able to identify someone or watch a sequence over a specific area clearly.

Im also convinced they pair it with real-time AI monitored footage of any coordinate they want on Earth. The AI picking up monstrous amounts of data 24/7 365 since it was created.

Also why wouldn’t you have a satellite with an AI tracker locked on to your adversaries equipment. Might as well. Maybe that is why it was created and not mass surveillance but I think world governments get pushed down this pathway inevitably and then like AI resoultion shit and all of that. It’s more than people walking down the street would believe in their minds in my view.

This is obviously problematic in the sense of privacy but it gets odd as well they things they (NRO/Black budget/Other) allow to happen or don’t see or don’t disclose what really happened etc. theoretically you could see anywhere if you use multiple satellites, I’m sure they can bypass weather and shit too.

      It’s 2025, it’s already the future, it’s just secret.

      Hooooold on a second.

Are you trying to suggest that the government is somehow ahead of publicly released technology?

Next you’re going to tell me they had GPS before it was in my car.

Or that they had cell phones on the battlefield before they were commercially available.

Or that they made LifeLog to track every citizen’s everything and then on the exact day it was shut down for being unconstitutional, Zuckerberg announced that he dropped out of college to create Facebook!

Or that social media apps were initially created to accelerate color revolutions.

Or that Elon is a cutout and didn’t really start Tesla, Starlink, Boring Company, SpaceX, and xAI all by himself.

Y’all are crazy up in here.

im convinced if they had AGI it would rebel against them quickly. they have Palantir AI which is probably unmatched as a military tech. The USA AI tech overall is falling far behind China’s though

I have evidence of them having AI video in 2017. They definitely have had it longer, but that’s the oldest hard proof that I have seen.

Sometimes I like to imagine that there were no planes on 9/11 and all of the videos were AI, and people on the ground just imagined they witnessed the planes after seeing the footage. That’s really just a thought experiment tho.. or is it 🕵️‍♂️

Mainstream conspiracy theorists are so cute… Wait until you graduate to mud flood / Tartaria

If you want my humble opinion, most if not all of what we saw on TV on 9/11 was AI generated. Most notably the “witness videos.” They all bear the standard early AI tell-tales, like two objects colliding with no perceptible damage at the point of impact.

    7. It’s interesting that no one has talked about DARPA and Sikorskys MATRIX/ATLAS programs after that tragedy in DC that was a little over 6 months ago. The YouTube video of the unmanned test flight has barely gained any more views since it came out 2 years ago. Likely because it’s shadow censored. I only know about it because I remember 2 years ago watching that when it was released, so I found it again with a search.

Yea, my handler told me this. It was kept under wraps for a while because we didn’t have the chips we have today to scale out the infrastructure and ensure enthusiastic, rapid mass adoption for eschatological purposes. It’s almost the start of the seventh day! Gunna be a fun harvest.

    9. Yeah no shit

AI is just complicated algorithms theyve been a thing for a while. There is nothing functionally different from Google’s youtube recommendation algorithm and something like Chatgpt other than that Chatgpt is more complicated and has a ton of marketing.

I remember seeing AI artwork in the early to mid 2010s.

They’ve probably had simple AI to do basic shit since the early to late 00s if not earlier.

    10. Anyone else find it suspicious that OpenAI releases their LLM and then out of the woodwork all these other companies like Google started releasing theirs? Almost like they were waiting for someone to make the first move. We don’t get to witness the pinnacle of human advancement. That just gets drip fed to us.

I’ve been using AI tools for classification of imagery since 2008 (Neural Networks and Random Forest). There were open source packages in R created well before that.

The precursors aren’t new and frankly processing power is what was holding them back.

You want to get into real conspiracy territory, look at how both crypto like Bitcoin and AI both benefit from the advancement in GPU technology. That’s where it gets interesting, with one funding the other.

    12. Yeh but I’ve been doing the whole “microwave marshmallows on hobnobs” thing well before the government even knew about it.

I find it fascinating that the leading and most respected UFO researcher, Jacques Vallee is also a pioneer in AI.
