Hot take: I think the biggest issue with age of politicians is not term limits or even fundraising. The issue is how poorly state politicians are paid in 80% of the country. Speaking from experience, it’s brutally hard to get in at the ground floor as a state rep or city counsel person when they only make 40k-50k in lots of places. How can you afford to have kids or live in today’s world on a salary like that? No young person wants to do it.
Reddit loves the idea of term limits or age limits, but they will be unhappy when they boot older politicians out and realize there’s fewer qualified people younger than they thought.

they’re also… well-known politicians in their state that have all previously WON statewide elections in the purple-to-red states they’re competing in.
It’s hard to have that stellar a track record and also be young and fresh.
