What exactly is the economic theory at play here? Because it’s not even populist. It’s most aptly “what does Donald, today, think makes him look best on TV.” And that is absolutely different from actual “popularity” or economic populism.

Edit: I guess the one actual economic belief Donald has is that everything is transactional, and life and the world economy are zero sum games. Also, cheap eggs and gas are good, low rates good, stock market good equals im the best. That’s about it.
