Overall this article says things we probably mostly already knew. The Israeli strikes on Iran earlier this year mostly provoked a rally around the flag effect in the short term but in the long term may lead to some concessions by the nation towards those agitating for reform. At the same time questions must be asked about the appetite of Iranians to push aggressively for reform having seen how Syria was long embroiled in a painful civil war after its own popular uprising. Nonetheless it is clear that Iran now faces a need for change, whether reform and an increase in tolerance and the release of political prisoners, or a further crackdown on what liberties have been provided to the Iranian people in the aim of preventing regime collapse. Initial signs appear to indicate the former but only time shall tell.
