A Postcard From an Occupied Washington. The presence of the National Guard on the streets of D.C. has terrified some, relieved others, and left even the troops themselves confused.

I live and work in DC. The only person I have heard express any relief is the one MAGA guy in the office who very loudly lives in Virginia rather than the city, and I am in a high priced White collar profession significantly more likely to pearl clutch about crime. Most everyone else is annoyed at the waste of tax dollars to intimidate people and feeling bad for the one national guard guy (a vocal Harris voter) who has missed work since this crap started.
