I recently started to see on X pay phones showing up randomly in New York and other major cities. I haven't seen a pay phone in over 10 years. Today at a small town in CT I found this random payphone in the back of a Dunkin Donuts by the bathrooms… is the US preparing for a total cellular failure soon?

It’s a glitch in the system
It probably has to do with the influx of illegal immigrants in the country. If there is a need for payphones again the phone company / city will install them to meet the demand of the people.
I keep saying I will use a payphone and make my kids use it when I see one next
A) this phone isn’t new
B) Anything/anyone capable of knocking out cell service prob has it’s eyes on the phone network, as well.
You can just [buy one for yourself](https://www.vendingconnection.com/yellow-pages/yp-payphones/) and install it. That’s probably what this business did.
How is this a conspiracy?
Maybe governments have realized that not everyone can afford a cell phone and this is to help them.
