In connection with the large-scale immigration raid carried out by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the Hyundai Motor–LG Energy Solution joint electric vehicle battery plant under construction in Bryan County, Georgia, a local far-right politician known to support President Trump has publicly claimed, “I was the one who reported the Hyundai plant.”
On the 5th, the local Korean news outlet Atlanta Korean News Portal reported that “the federal immigration raid appears to have stemmed from continued tips by Trump’s far-right supporters” and revealed that the tipster was Tori Branum, a candidate running in the Republican primary for Georgia’s 12th Congressional District. Branum is a former U.S. Marine who has declared her support for Trump and is known for her far-right conservative stance.
A post verified by The Hankyoreh on Branum’s Facebook page, dated the 4th, reads:
“I personally reported this site to ICE a few months ago and even spoke with an agent. The people of Georgia have the right to know that our jobs, safety, and the rule of law are being threatened by illegal employment practices.”
She continued:
“I heard people were running away, jumping over fences, and even trying to escape through the roof. Helicopters are currently circling overhead, and law enforcement has blocked the plant’s entrance.”
She further asserted:
“We need to give jobs to Georgia residents. We cannot allow companies to exploit illegal labor just to save costs.”
In another post, she explained the reason for her report:
“A hardworking American told me he worked with Spanish-speaking undocumented immigrants and even had video evidence. Why wouldn’t I believe him?”
Branum also issued threats toward those criticizing her actions. She wrote:
“Some people are barking very loudly about the Hyundai plant raid. Maybe your company should be investigated too. You could be next.”
She added:
“I don’t know how you got onto my friends list, but don’t pick a fight with me,” posting a photo of herself holding a firearm.

P.S. All 300 Korean staffs are sent to ICE detention centers. Korean media is speculating that it might take months to get them released if they are presented before immigration judges.

So, all those “Gotta hand it to them” comments in this sub about MASGA are sure looking good right now, right?

Did the “video evidence” include them saying “Yes, I am not a legal immigrant, I am working here illegally for low wages” or was it just a random person working who spoke spanish and had dark skin
You know arizona? That state with the box cars lined across the border? That state with immigration checkpoints all over the place? That state that really really hates migrants?
Their construction and labor fields are full of illegal migrants. And they do very little to internally police their businesses and companies who engage in it.
My dad constantly points that out down there. Just be told that there’s no way that they are undocumented. The locals down there truly believe it’s not happening right under their noses.
It’s that way here in Kansas too. Trumpers here have no clue how many of them are actually working in this state. Because they think their politicians are hard on ilegal workers. When they mostly just ignore them.
