the problem is much deeper, ie the lack of virtue in the citizenry, no offence to foreign writers, but i live in ontario, i’m used to the federal and provincial governments being different parties, but if you listened to foreigners and their simple, borderline stereotypical offensive narratives (in that they flatten canadian political culture to some template), you’d think otherwise. And thus in some ways I find myself consuming stuff written by locals, but even the locals end up internalizing foreign talking points ignorant to the their lived political experience
