When I’m in a provocative mood, I like to say that we liberals can learn from fascism in order to confront it. I’m not advocating for building a movement on lies and violence when I say this, nor am I calling for an embrace of bigotry. What I mean is that we need to move past the sanitised style of modern liberalism, in favour of something that appeals to the more primal parts of the human spirit. We need a liberalism that fulfils the human desire for mythology and shared struggle. We need to embrace the creation of unifying myths, and the use of symbols that appeal to identity. We need to embrace aesthetics that stand out, for their own sake. This was the key insight of Mierendorff and the SPD ‘neorevisionists’ of late Weimar, and it was what guided the foundation of the Iron Front.
Anyway, this article is primarily about the role of myth in the present reactionary movement in America, and I’m not quite sure what would be the best ping, but !ping EXTREMISM
