      Alright, I think I’ve formulated my take on political violence.

      First of all, these assassinations aren’t about achieving political goals, rather they’re an innovation upon the “school shooter”. School shootings have become so cliche in the US you just can’t really get any infamy from doing them, and the media has learned to stop publicizing the names of the shooters.

      But with these political assassinations you get the whole ecosystem of right-wing media figures frenetically speculating about the identity of the shooter. You get the Governor of Utah thinking it’s so crucial the public is made aware of the political leanings and motivations of the shooter that he’ll read out loud the stupid engravings on your bullet casings in a press conference. You’ll get every journalist in America crawling through all of your social media posts and highlighting anything vaguely politically charged they find.

      The assassinations will continue until people get bored of the “rabid speculation about the shooter being a minority” genre.
