AI delivering massive efficiency improvements to the fraud industry. Phishing firms can afford to downside and reduce employment without losing productivity. Expect increased profitability for phishing firms and other firms in the fraud industry in the coming future. However if tech companies ~~get their heads out of their asses~~ start to work on improving guardrails against this sort of activity, could be a big blow to the fraud industry.

AI is already revolutionizing the spam industry. I’m getting 20-30 spam messages across all my email addresses *daily*, many of them fairly targeted, and gmail isn’t stopping them. This has just started happening in the past 2 weeks.

  3. If it was just straigth phishing: The AI has great opportunities at optimizing pig butchering scams over people who aren’t natives at the language, and it’s a much better amplifier of propaganda than some random russian.

Everything that used to require language skills is a bit cheaper than it was, and it will get even cheaper and better. And as anyone that understands markets should know, if something gets cheaper, we get more of it, including fraud.
