WASHINGTON (TNND) — Former U.S. Attorney in Miami, Alexander Acosta, who negotiated Jeffrey Epstein's 2008 plea deal, is slated to appear before the House Oversight Committee on Friday.

Acosta previously served as President Donald Trump's Labor Secretary during Trump's first term in office.

In 2019, Acosta resigned from the role after coming under scrutiny for the plea deal he negotiated with Epstein, while he was a top federal prosecutor in South Florida.

    1. The House Oversight Committee seems to be the only ones actually doing *anything* regarding Epstein.

I don’t want to get my hopes up or anything, but I feel like this deposition could certainly lead to something. It’s already been ruled that he violated the law with the plea deal he made with Epstein, and I think the non-prosecution part of the deal is still in limbo. Maxwell’s lawyers are trying to argue her prosecution was illegal because of that deal, so his testimony here could help or hurt her case there. And of course there’s the whole thing with him saying Epstein was part of “intelligence”, but I imagine we won’t get any real good answers regarding that tidbit.
