I really want to get rid of my online presence but its so hard. I have a friend who has no form of social media and his life is so good it makes me wonder what’s the point. He knows the big stuff that’s happening but everything else is basically alien to him. He lives life without worry, he doesn’t care about anything other than his own life. And to me thats powerful.

    2. It’s a really smart post, one that recognizes the trends of the 2010’s, but I think he uses too many words.

Religion is a culturally important thing. The rise of atheism left a huge gap in culture that was filled with corporations catering to wedge issues in order to get engagement. Politics became the new religion. Social media created echo chambers, echo chambers created extremist rhetoric. Politics recruit followers, tend to use accusatory rhetoric, the natural result being people hate others that don’t follow their political ideology.

Previously we shared a commonality in Christianity. We no longer share anything in common. We’ve divided this country into two warring religions. Covid just added fuel to an already out of control wildfire.

Some people are smart enough to see it. Others are tolerant enough to put politics aside when interacting with people. There is a large army of NPC’s on both sides though willing to crusade for their political holy war.
