Would you say this is Japanese xenophobia specifically, or part of the global rise in anti immigrant attitudes?
Seems likely they have been claiming asylum but their claims have all been rejected but Japan doesn’t deport failed asylum claimers.
Turkey has issues with their treatment of Kurds but by law, they are equal citizens . Powerful ministers are Kurds including the current foreign minister. State television has channels in Kurdish . Very little violence nowadays in Turkey . So asylum claim is very weak.
