I was at the scene yesterday, let me recap the audience over there a bit.
Advocating 1 – The group I belonged – Sydney Yimby, pro housing, big tent liberals.
Advocating 2 – Real Estate Agency & Developer representatives, mostly just listen and taking notes.
Opposing 1 – Degrowth Greens, bunch of seniors arguing those will destroy environment and increase pubic service prices nearby.
Opposing 2 – Boomer Nimbys, seniors yelling MUH HERITAGE.
Opposing 3 – NSW Socialists, demanding all new housings should be public housing, and make sure developers can’t be profit from this, get kicked out by security for disturbing orders.
And some local residents being curious about the event.
Anyway, it was a narrow pass, that my group was really stressed during the voting. Because many councils in Inner West are insanely Nimby.
