  1. The logic behind the proposal (?):

    “We know that you know that the chips are the only leverage you have to get us to care, so why don’t you help us be independent so we don’t have to care? Otherwise we won’t defend you and the industry we care about a lot!!”

    It’s also not a solved technical problem.

    Chip manufacture is the most delicate and precise process done on earth. You can’t just copy and paste a factory from Taiwan in Arizona. You need to account for a different frequency of vibrations in the ground and different minerals dissolved in the water, for example.
