    ‘Elections’ is a bit of a stretch.

    It is merely a constitutional method for filling an institutional void. I would wait for the end of the 5-year transitional period to see what democratic attributes, if any, would the new ascendant regime possess.

  2. No clue how this will end up but is genuinely a good step forward. Democracy is not built on a day and hopefully this is a positive step. that they are able to have a Syrian Jewish man as a candidate and additionally have around 20% of the candidates be women is promising. We will see how Syrian democracy develops but this article has me optimistic
