As predicted by many, the decision to place Takaichi as head of the LDP appears thus far to be an absolute “glass cliff” moment in the party, and for the country.
Japan may be gaining its first female Prime Minister, but with her former juggernaut of a party unfolding and dark days ahead for the nation- she seems a patsy to take the fall. Never did I think I would see the LDP so vulnerable.
Maybe, at least, her fall can discredit far-right nationalist sentiment in Japan for at least a few more years.
