As someone who has spent a good bit of time in Poland, I’m always surprised by how nice it is. You think Poland, you think “post-communist, so ugly buildings, bit dodgy, not very nice”. But it’s lovely, it’s safe, it’s cheap. It has a beautiful old town, and great museums, and a fantastic tram system. In the summer the weather is glorious too.
And the answer for why is (as the article states) it’s legal to build things in Poland, and they have cheap energy because they don’t deliberately hamper their energy production.
