Muslim Soldiers in Hitler’s Army? Prayer on the Battlefield — A Forgotten Piece of WWII History

Not a joke, not propaganda — just a really strange and rarely discussed part of history.

During World War II, Nazi Germany recruited several Muslim divisions into the Waffen-SS, mostly from Bosnia and other parts of the Balkans. There are real photos of these soldiers performing Islamic prayer on the battlefield — something that looks surreal today, given what we know about Nazi ideology.

It’s one of those stories that makes you realize how complex and contradictory history can be. Almost no one talks about it, but it’s absolutely fascinating (and uncomfortable) to learn about.

    1. It makes more sense than the Japanese fighting alongside Nazis. Muslims have always been at war with the Jews. “The enemy of my enemy is my friend”.

When You are fighting against most of the world, You allay your self with anyone willing to do it, even if it’s deeply hypocritical.

Go learn about the axis alliance, and how unlikely it was for these countries to work together if they weren’t desperate.
