So here's what went down tonight NASA, ESA, and the IAU just quietly activated the global Planetary Defense Network for an interstellar object, 31/ATLAS.

No headlines. No press briefing. Just a late night update in the Minor Planet Center's internal bulletin (MPEC 2025-U142) saying:

"Announcement of IAWN Comet Astrometry Campaign Nov. 27, 2025 Jan. 27, 2026."

That means the International Asteroid Warning Network, the same team that handles real planetary-defense scenarios is coordinating an observation campaign around this thing.

They're calling it a "test of improved astrometry methods." Translation: the object isn't behaving as expected.

The bulletin literally says the comet's brightness center doesn't align with its predicted path, meaning its light and its actual mass are off.

Timeline they dropped: Workshop: Nov 10 Kickoff: Nov 25 Global observation: Nov 27 – Jan 27 Debrief: Feb 3

That covers perihelion through its closest Earth approach when it'll be brightest and least stable.

So yeah, they're saying it's a training exercise, but when every major observatory from Hawaii to Chile points at one object, that's not routine science.

No panic and very few people in finance been talking about this https://x.com/HustleBitch_/status/1980384614184001958

which kinda reminds me of that movie "Don't look up" but this is the first time in history an interstellar body's been placed under planetary defense coordination. That alone says a lot.

At the eod i would say "Most conspiracy theory are false until they are proven true" so we would just have to wait and see.

There is no planetary defense system because space is fake, gas pressure requires containment

      Good find. Interesting.

Well, to be fair, 3I/Atlas isn’t “routine” either. 3rd interstellar object, first one to check a couple of “weird” marks. Naturally people are interested scientifically.

      Still. Interesting.
