Apologies for the pair of pints in the span of a day, but these are both pretty significant stories. This is another bad sign for Starmer; Philipson was fairly heavily associated with him, and Powell was very much seen as a Burnham-aligned candidate, broadly to the party’s (modern) left and had been explicitly ejected from her position in the cabinet last month. Shocking turnout, though; just 1/6 of Labour Party members voted in this election, which is a bad sign for interest overall.
