I went to a large state school in the Midwest and we had many associate professors on H1-Bs. Genuinely smart folks helping make this country better. People who studied here and continued to contribute. Watching the discourse around H1-Bs has been really disappointing. A lot of hate from both the left and the right towards people who followed all the rules to try and immigrate here legally. I think we’ll come back around to liking immigrants again sometime in the (I hope near) future. But until then, so many lives upended for no reason.
