In fact, I would call it beyond derivative and a straight-up rip-off of the British Pop Artist [Allen Jones](https://www.sothebys.com/en/artists/allen-jones) who created a series of “furniture” sculptures in the 60’s which became one of those things so influential you know about them even if you don’t know you know about them.
Most famously, the Korova Milk Bar furniture in A Clockwork Orange were based on Jones’ sculptures. He actually worked on A Clockwork Orange very briefly with his friend Jon Sutcliffe – a fetishwear designer who created Emma Peel’s catsuits in the SF series The Avengers. The designed a latex, bottomless waitress uniform but Kubrick pulled the “I’m paying you in exposure,” And they quit. So he hired an artist to make pieces derivative of Jones work.
There’s nothing really nefarious. While most members of the Pop Art movement were influenced by commercial art, Jones was influenced by erotic art – BDSM and pin-up magazines. The only real mutual influence he had in common with Warhol or Liechtenstein was comic books. Which came full circle when Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons decided to base the Silk Spectre costumes from Watchmen on the clothes worn by the women in his sculptures and paintings.
Jones’ work is no more evil (or whatever you’re trying to imply) than Giger’s Biomechanoids or Sorayama’s Gynoids. They’re all looking at something which was meant to be hidden under a bed or in a closet (retro erotica) through the lens of fine art.
So the controversy is that Kanye’s wife is trying to pass something someone else did as her own – although that’s happened to Jones throughout his career.
