1967 was also when Israel and the Soviet Union broke ties with each other following the 6 day war. The soviets shifted support to Arab nations and the US (in the midst of the Cold War) responded by supporting their now enemy. I’m completely against any aid to Israel, but this is likely the reason why the aid began around that time.

The sad thing is…..whether you vote right or left, the outcome would be the same. More money for “our greatest ally”……Our ally who provides nothing to us, and takes everything.
