> The US, unlike the UK, has never required a license to listen to broadcast radio or television.
I had to read this sentence several times to understand
It gives me so much hope that the mayor of the largest city in the US is a naturalized citizen. Also the fact that ~15% of congress is either an immigrant or had an immigrant parent (which tbh should be higher)
My favorite quote from ant US president is actually a quote from Reagan:
“You can go to live in France, but you cannot become a Frenchman. You can go to live in Germany or Turkey or Japan, but you cannot become a German, a Turk, or a Japanese. But anyone, from any corner of the Earth, can come to live in America and become an American.”
> Small businesses were hit particularly hard by the levies. A Federal Reserve survey published last month found 42% of small firms called rising costs owing to tariffs a primary financial concern. These smaller businesses, which operate on tiny margins, have a harder time stockpiling inventories or eating tariff costs to avoid passing down higher prices to consumers. A March report from the Center for American Progress found small businesses paid $306,000 in tariffs on average last year.
>But unlike larger companies—such as Costco and FedEx, which have already sued the Trump administration to ensure eligibility for refunds—smaller businesses often lack key resources in navigating the legal intricacies and uncertainties to secure the refunds, jeopardizing their ability to recoup the hundreds of thousands of dollars they lost in the past year.
>“Especially given the uncertain legal environment that we’re operating in right now, I am deeply worried that small and medium-sized importers are going to end up losing their refund rights because they haven’t had access to trade counsel to help back them through it,” Matthew Seligman, founder and principal of Grayhawk Law and a federal litigator focusing on constitutional law, told Fortune.
Not only did this administration illegally rob millions of American consumers through an illegal tax, even the refunds only benefit the big players. Small businesses barely have the time, money or resources to eat the damage from the tariffs, and now they probably will receive a fraction of the refund money because they can’t afford proper legal guidance to navigate the bureaucratic maze.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the degree of wealth inequality increases dramatically with all the stock market fuckery going on in addition to Trump’s bald-faced manipulations and schemes.
This is fortunately fantastic news
Unfortunately, this is the worst time to have a working mRNA vaccine, with the clown RFK Jr determined to cripple this technology
Never thought I’d see the US go through its Lysenkoist moment but here we are

>Sean Hannity suggests that the New York Mets’ 11-game losing streak has something to do with the team’s mascots hugging New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani. “And by the way, the New York Mets? They are on an 11-game losing streak, including right after the mayor met and hugged the team mascot, Mr. Met, at Citi Field on April 9, a phenomenon people are calling the ‘Mamdani Curse.’”
These people are so embarrassingly obsessed
Malarkey level of killing everyone who disagrees with me
Ah yes Donald Trump, the Great Preserver of the Institution of Marriage and the Family
