Submission statement: Sir Olly Robbins, the former permanent undersecretary to the British Foreign Office told the Commons Foreign Affairs committee that he had been under constant pressure by the Cabinet office to clear Peter Mendelson in order to make the latter the US Ambassador.
Meanwhile the Prime Minister still insists he had idea about the infighting between civil servants in order for Mandelson to be sent to Washington.
