The theory I firmly believe in, whoever controls the media is pushing agenda about a future doomed to fail. With all the movies about apocalypse, endless negative news, people start to feel hopeless about the future.
A small example: one of the reasons why people do not want kids is they believe a new life shouldn’t exist in such bad times.
And I am sure it affected other parts of our lives too. Thoughts?

Nah. People saw the future just as grim as we do today. Look at works like Metropolis to see dark depictions of the future in old media.
