I found this in my grandfathers box that he kept in his room. He was in the military for 40 years and this box contains medals and I’m honestly at a loss for words. He was never really the religious type but started going to a Christian church a few years ago. I blurred out some of the content on the box for personal reasons, but can anyone provide an explanation? I’m willing to answer questions !!

Do you know anything about the ring or any history involved with this ring in specific

I was given a ring like that by a Freemason who was trying to help me get in to the super secret club. I studied up and was ready but ultimately, decided not to join. I say that because I still have the ring and CANNOT wait until I die and my kids find my old notes and the ring, then think I was involved in some super secret club haha.

That said, military plus ring equals more than likely a mason.

I think you would have found out based on his obituary, or people attending his funeral, etc. Masons aren’t shy about listing their membership in obituaries, or recognizing the deceased person’s positive contribution to their city/area, when a member passes away.

Hope you’re doing okay, and sorry to hear of your loss.

Freemasons aren’t rare or special. In a middle class white dude from St. Louis. My dad, uncle, and grandpa were all grand masters and they are very normal people who go fishing on the weekends. I’ve been to a million ceremonies since I was a child. It’s a fraternity for old men at this point. There’s nothing nefarious about modern day Freemasons.
