The other morning I drove by a gas station and all I see is OUT of regular AND diesel. I get closer to take a picture and notice it’s a newly constructed station.
We’re constantly told there’s no shortage. Domestic production is strong. Strategic reserves are stable. Supply chains are “resilient.”
But it got me thinking: what if?
We’ve built an economy where literally everything depends on cheap oil: food, medicine, construction, emergency services. If fuel availability ever became genuinely constrained, most people wouldn’t realize how fragile the system is until it was already happening.
I’m not saying this one station proves anything.
I’m asking: what would you do if the gas stations stopped pumping?
Curious if anyone else has seen stations unexpectedly out of fuel recently.
The conspiracy: we could be heading toward a future where oil is unaffordable. This fits the sub in light of the recent conflicts in the Middle East and price fluctuations of oil.

You’re basing this on one gas station? What if the new gas station hasn’t obtained their shipment yet? Where I’m at there is plenty of gas and it’s going down in price.
You really wasted your time typing all this based on ONE station in the country?
never mind that ,how’s the beer supply ? asking for a Canadian
There are estimated to be about 1.7 trillion barrels of proven crude oil reserves. Going by the rate at which the world goes through oil (roughly 100 million barrels a day), that would mean with the current supply we’d be good for another 40-50 years.
This is also not taking into consideration undiscovered reserves, undisclosed reserves, and given the advancement of tech and the resources available by these massive oil companies, it’s likely there’s much more than we do not know about.
I’m all for looking beneath the surface but outside of obvious fear mongering; there isn’t much evidence (imo) to suggest that we’re nearing an oil shortage.
But they probably have beer
Means that the scratchers are hot today, so you know if you put down a 20, you gonna cash out!
Well the petrol dollar has always been controversial so it’s always been on my mind. I wouldn’t think that the concept of an oil-free life is too far fetched, as I believe this current US admin is pushing for a last dance with all of the old ways of life. I think it’s possible to see oil-based products used commercially/industrially and removed from general public consumption products.
Where’s the imminent ground war in Iran so I could get drafted and put out of my misery already
Not in
In my 1500 gallon tanks on my properties.
heh
That’s quite a leap to make by seeing one gas station empty.
Funny you see this when telegram is full or Russian posts of fueling stations with no gas or long lines.
Honestly, most of you deserve 10 years of lean hardship to sort out your ridiculous ideologies. We are in the weak men creating bad times portion of the cycle. We need to cure/eliminate the weak men portion.
