Rural Arizona is a bellwether of this phenomenon, in which “nearly everyone I spoke with, including Trump supporters, feel worse off than they were before the 2024 election”. Half a million Arizonans lost food stamps and unemployment is a full percent higher. “Almost all are angry about Trump’s decisions to start a war and ornament a capital city that they will never see.” However, many still blame “both political parties.”
