On Valentine’s Day in 1979, Amb. Dubs was kidnapped and assassinated in the Kabul Hotel, Room 117, with KGB and U.S. officials outside the room in the hallway. This was an important event at the start of what became four decades of warfare involving the U.S. and Afghanistan, which tragically included 9/11 and the War on Terror. This book does a great job explaining the details of this event and the "cover-up" of the event by the U.S. and Soviet governments.
