This movie is dangerous. I wanted to make this clear.. It’s dangerous. What it was trying to convey and the internet surrounding it.

The movie is filmed with perfect camera shots, and a good actor plays Chris Hansen. This movie is filmed like an accomplished movie should be. But yet the movie is simply slop.

A summary of the movie and my critique.

Primetime predatory propaganda slop.
Chris Hansen is demonized to the film's credit. At no point did anything ever, and I mean ever, show him in a good light.

From wanting your kids to be proud of you. To the movie suggesting he’s so obsessed he woke his children up to see his success.

From forcing a person to speak to the preds when they’re job is literally that.  From forcing him to feel scary for no reason and show no nuance to him. It felt as if he wasn’t even the main character, it felt we were watching people react to him.

They demonize him to the end.

The producer

I am confused with her character. One moment she’s a busy, talkative woman who only cares about views; the next, we're supposed to feel bad for her because apparently Chris Hansen doesn’t appreciate her.

For her to be scared ? Of him for some reason… just for her to go back to wanting views. Again people are nuanced I don’t really understand her character.

Dan the 23 year old

No character in this movie frustrates me more than what they are trying to convey with Dan. He’s 23. Of course, he's portrayed as a decoy, so they make him act and seem young.
But they portray him as if he is that young. They never say he’s 23. I’m not saying you’re super wise already at that age. But when I was 23, I knew way more than I did a year earlier, and even more.

Which is propaganda for us to perceive that Chris Hansen is mistreating someone young and vulnerable.

Forcing someone to do his job that he signed up for. I’m not saying that he can’t be traumatized. He totally can be. After all seeing anyone’s genitalia and having to catch preds probably isn’t very ideal. But he can quit..

I understand the nuance: he wants to succeed financially and as an actor. He’s being manipulated financially? Well no. Emotionally? Kinda I guess but Chris Hansen can genuinely believe the speech he gave him about being a hero. But even that is demonized

His character empathizes with the predators (I’ll cover that more) to show the human side of predators that we didn’t really get to see. His character is used as a tool for us to believe Chris Hansen is manipulating a child, and through this child to empathize with the predators.

The predators

Imma say this but hear me out. I actually think we should humanize them. I don't think it’s ridiculous to believe they deserve to be treated like humans and rehabilitated. I think we shouldn't shame them for seeking and speaking up about help before they commit a crime. I'd rather they speak up and seek help; that's what I'm trying to say.

I believe it is a mental illness or a weakness and impulses of addiction or when they are at their lowest, I think we need more research on how to prevent pedophilia, how it happens, how to better approach this and lower and aid the next generation and onwards.

A better movie would have explored their backgrounds, impulses, upbringings, personal lives, and traumas. But instead this movie wants us to empathize with them for “I have a family and kids. I just got divorced with my wife, I’m a veteran”.

Those can be valid reasons for someone to fall into deep, harmful ideals and content irrationally. But it’s not enough to justify the intent to seek out minors. Say sexually explorative and suggestive things to someone they believe is a minor.

It’s the selective humanization of one and not the others.

Texas

I knew this was coming. I knew the story in real life. But Jesus, the dramatization, and I get it. But staring his house down as Chris Hansen is looking forward to interviewing him. Is very dramatic.

Hansen forces Dan to talk to the pred and the film is doing its very best to make us feel bad for the predator.

For example in the movie they made it to where the attorney was overly cautious or if not wasn’t very interested in being sexually exploitative and more interested in getting to know the person he thought was a minor. Which is very ridiculous to say even though in real life he was reported talking to multiple decoys saying sexually explicit things.

More propaganda to make us want to feel bad for the predator who wasn’t interested in sexually exploiting a minor instead he
Just wanted to get to know them …. and watch the play with dan the 23 year old.

Over all

After the movie I was stunned . This movie was pure propaganda to make us empathize and desensitize ourselves to this kind of behavior.
Especially at such a crucial time, when people like Epstein are all over the news.
When the United States president is Donald trump another rapist and pedophile. They want us to desantize to make it normal.

When I looked on social media, the propaganda was practically seeping in. The only videos I saw were people rating it highly, as if it were Oscar worthy.

People saying that if you watched the movie thinking this you’re ignorant. You don’t know the plot, you don’t know the messaging, you have no media literacy, etc etc. saying that it’s supposed to be like this because it’s a thriller movie.  it felt like these people were paid to say this. As if they’re bots or maybe making up for something they feel like they have to defend.

Literally from instagram, to TikTok and to Reddit. I thought it was crazy. Only criticism I saw was from the couple of comments that had barely any likes

They want it normal so our views shape up to the elites.
The memes that came from it.. a distraction? Or harmless? When we know that the fbi/govs infiltrate memes to desantize us or distract us.

This movie is dangerous. Lance Oppenheim is the director, he seems to be Israeli which doesn’t mean he’s inherently bad. But what is his purpose of making a movie like this..

I want you to question this. Why does the movie seem more interested in examining the suffering of the people being caught than in exploring the humanity of the person catching them?

Question: What's the purpose of this film in the time we're experiencing? what's the purpose of this film in a time that we’re experiencing with serial pedophiles that happen to be the elites and in our gov.

I may not have all the answers but questioning is the first step of figuring out how.

Which I’m tired of questioning if this or that is propaganda. I’m tired but at the end of the day, being tired is better than sleeping ignorantly.

(Keep in mind they are more than welcome to criticize Chris Hanson’s character. He cheated on his wife would have been a better notion to criticize him for. But for some reason . They didn’t focus much on it, and it felt rushed, as if they didn’t have enough substance. A better movie would show his bad side and a good side. Nuanced like the predators but instead they made up scenarios to make us see that way instead of allowing us to make up our own opinions and judgments,)

The poster itself already feels staged like a trap, blue static and a suit silhouette like they want you to feel unsettled before even pressing play
