At least in Britain when they are wrongly arrested, the jail officer will refuse to keep them in custody, and you can fairly quickly and easily sue and win compenstion, even if its only a few thousand pounds.

It is worse in Australia. They can wrongly arrest you and claim you did something that has no bail, so you wait in prison for years for a trial, then they can drop charges and let you go. You get ZERO compensation for rotting in jail and having your life ruined. In Australian jails right now 40% of people have not yet been found guilty or had a trial. You never see this mentioned anywhere. This is the result of outrage culture – where the pressure builds on politicians to make any perceived offense not applicable for bail.
