What Happened After Denmark Adopted a Ruined City in Ukraine

    The NYT wrote this article about the rebuilding partnership, that the Danish government did with Mykolaïv about 4 years ago in the early stages of the war. It highlights the main part being restoration of the city’s water infrastructure, which was destroyed when the city’s fresh water supplies were destroyed when the retreating Russian forces blew up the pipes leading water from the Dnipro, and the city decided to pump sea water into the pipes to provide water for cleaning and sanitation.

  2. The Mykolaiv partnership really is a success story, and something I think we can be quite proud of in Denmark.

    Several cities around the world have also “adopted” Ukrainian cities, but this is as far as I know, the biggest and the flagship version of this type of partnership. There is also cooperation with UNDP on this.
