With universal public healthcare, I’m sure it’s a net savings to the tax payer.

OP, serious question.
Say there’s a person with a chronic condition experiencing excruciating pain 24/7
Say they know their condition will never go away, and that it will kill them relatively soon.
The doctor gives them the option to leave early.
They take it.
What problem do you have with that ?

So 1 out of every 400 people in Canada are killing themselves? Is that right?

The problem is taking care of itself. Settler colonial states were destined to be shitholes without new markets to expand to. Go lie in the bed you made for yourselves.

“Using tax dollars” well yeah, that’s what universal healthcare is. I worked in an ICU for years. Our “tax dollars” also pay for nurses and doctors to remove life sustaining measures from critically ill patients. Should we use more tax dollars to keep people artificially alive for as long as possible?
The ads are grim for sure but we should get better about talking about death and how it affects families and patient dignity.

This reminds me of that old movie Soylent Green where Edward G Robinson’s character just walks into a clinic to end his life. Everything is made to look so peaceful and serene. This line of thinking has been in the works for decades.

Living in Canada has become literal hell
The ad seems to be based in Scotland, not Canada.
https://www.dignityindying.org.uk/blog-post/let-us-choose-legalise-assisted-dying/
And it’s a campaign to get assisted suicide, which is not currently legal in Scotland.
I hate how people intentionally spread misinformation, or don’t put the minimum effort to finding sources.
