**Submission Statement:** With the self-inflicted implosion of Swalwell’s campaign, the California Democrats lack a clear-cut frontrunner. The field is now divided between Steyer & Porter (both polling in the high teens / low twenties) and a handful of single-digit contenders. Due to California’s “jungle” primary, the top two finishers, regardless of party, advance to the general election. The GOP frontrunners, Bianca and Hilton, stand poised to usurp a divided field and claim the two positions. As it stands today, the Dems risk dividing their votes between the field, allowing the two GOP candidates to advance. With the “big names” (Pelosi, Newsom, Harris) not willing to play kingmaker, the Dems risk fumbling the governorship to the Republicans.
Swalwell dropping out consolidated the votes. This is just a Dems in Disarray article that the media loves so much.
rphillish on
lol, Betty Yee already dropped out. Dems getting locked out was never going to be an issue. If people have issues with a jungle primary they just articles about how they don’t like jungle primaries.
