There's an f-ton of candidates on this ballot. Jesus…

Since it's a jungle primary, am I throwing my vote away if I vote Tom Steyer? He seems pretty neoliberal.

Katie Porter was my house rep and I didn't mind her so much. I'd vote for her if it means crowding out MAGA.

Suggest some names that are both neoliberal and strategic.

Thanks in advance!

  1. Nevermind on Porter, just read her website. Hot mess of stuff I could care less about.

  2. Tbh for the majority of the ballot I just googled the position+2026 election and usually Calmatters or another publication will have a list of the top candidates, their experience, and their campaign promises; I went with ones who had a good combination of experience, endorsements from organizations I support, and policy positions outside the generic ″lower costs/ help out XYZ groups″.

And no Republicans for any position; don’t care if they have honeyed words on affordability, that party needs to lose and lose hard in every single role. For Governor I chose Steyer, for his action plan on ICE, zoning, and his defense of the gas tax.

I put my vote for Steyer due to his housing policy and the weakening of neoliberal boogeyman Prop 13.

  4. Apparently Xavier Becerra is leading in polls. His website is fluff. Nothing but ideals. No specifics on how to accomplish things.

Becerra not because of any particular policy but because strategically we need to make sure the November election has a democrat on the ballot. I say Becerra because he seems to be leading in polls of the dems. If it’s Becerra vs another dem in November then there’s time later to talk about Becerra’s positions but right now the priority is a dem making it to November.

It’s probably Matt Mahan, although he is backed by some gross tech/crypto money
