I just wanna hear other people’s thoughts and / or experiences with this because i haven’t been able to find much elsewhere.
Sooo about 3-4 years ago i started thinking i was imagining things because it appeared that somethings in my room that looked exaaactly like my hair or other people in the houses hair or dog hair etc would move on there own and i swear sometimes “slightly burn” me. (Hear me out i knooow how this sounds at first ). I tried googling things that look like hair but are alive and according to google the only thing that fits that is “Horsehair Worms”(gordian worms) and in that first search I just read quickly cuz it said they were black and as big as actual horse hairs (and not harmful to humans they’re a parasite from grasshoppers and crickets but they escape them and grow to full size when they mature ) and the “hairs” that appeared to move on their own were all different colors — sometimes light brown sometimes white etc etc but they all looked like they could be from someone in the house and neverrrr longer than like 7 inches or wider than a normal hair
I went about my life and every time I saw them after that I just kept telling myself it was just my anxiety or perhaps it was something with the house cuz it was a really old house
Fast forward a year and I move to a new house …. Same thing continues to happen …. And it’s getting to the point that I couldn’t just keep playing it off as only my anxiety because it happened every day and always the same way etc I started getting really scared even tho like I said they don’t infect infest or harm humans but it just creeped me out because of how many there appeared to be. I tried googling it many times but it’s really hard to find much about them online but I have been able to find that they can defff be other colors like the different hair colors I had seen and google still insists they alllll always eventually Grow to the size of a horse hair and if that was happening in these houses I 100% would notice but they never get bigger than a human hair (while they’re here if they’re here that is)
I assume not being able to find much on the internet it’s because most people don’t pay enough attention / think to think about it because why wouldn’t we know if there were worms that were amazing enough at disguising themselves that we’d believe their own hair but now that I “knew” about them I alllllways pay attention to hairs in the house so I see it a lot ORRRR that it’s being covered up for some nefarious reason like are they testing us to see if we’ll notice them quick enough and if not use them to spread some disease or attack us without us knowing or even are they alreadyyyy truly harmful to humans but they lie about them on the internet so we wont know about it or something ?? (I do need to add I respect everyonessss beliefs and opinions but I just want to make it clear that I do nottt think these have anything to do with COVID or hanravirus etc etc this has nothing to do with that in myyy brain I do believe it could potentially be used for something like that I just don’t think it was for those so far )
Now I’m at my third house since the first time “seeing” them and it is STILL happening here but it’s worse because my room is in a basement now and they love and need moisture to live so I believeeee I see them a lot…. It drives me crazy with anxiety it just really creeps me out I was never scared of worms before but there’s just something creepy about something that could at any minute be somewhere you’re not expecting them because you think it’s just a real actual hair
I’m so sorry about the long ass story but I guess what I’m trying to say is does anyone have any thoughts or knowledge or even experiences with these guys or whatever or what do you guys think ?

My kid was playing in a back channel from the river, came up like dad look at this string, as it wrapped itself around his wrist!! No knowing what it was k hit it with the blow torch. Def only find them in the water and not dangerous
Umm.. so not to freak you out, but this can be a sign of a mental health concern.
I am not dismissing your experience, but how come you don’t have any pictures of them?

I see horsehair worms all the time, specifically after it rains. They are wild if you read about them.
This is why shellfish is not kosher. (Lobster, crab, etc. all cousins of roaches.)

Yeah dude this is most likely paranoia and delusion. You need help managing your anxiety, it is causing you to perceive things that are not accurate as a way of dealing with the anxiety you have inside.
Why didn’t you post a photo or video of what you were talking about? Maybe it’s all in your imagination?
1) there is tons of information about these worms online, counter to what you mentioned.
2) they need moisture to survive (water or be in an insect) not just basement dampness. and if you think your basement apt is too wet…get a dehumidifier and it will make it too dry for them.
3) who is “they” thats lying to you about these worms and why would lying about ever present large wiggly creatures be so effective only you have seen through the misinformation?
4) has anyone else seen them? have you picked one up to show someone or taken a photo?
5) they are bigger than horsehair. much thicker. definitely way thicker than your own hair and they are suprisingly crunchy. they have a tough casing to keep their very long, thin bodies from breaking too easily.
6) all together….this is paranoid delusion and you should ask loved ones for insight into what you are seeing to help dispel the visions, otherwise medical intervention is always available.
