Ukraine's astounding innovation and scaling in drone production has drastically changed the reality behind the war and assumptions from recent years. Previous calculations underlying calls to end support for Ukraine have been proven wrong, as Ukraine's production of millions of inexpensive drones could be bolstered by single-digit billions in aid.

The essay gets into specifics with numbers and convincingly makes the case for supporting Ukraine's drone industry. This is important to the sub, as defending Ukraine against the Russian invasion is a pivotal struggle against a global authoritarian power.

Don’t we get like one of these articles every month, at least?

  2. This whole conversation is so macabre, and I hate everything about it, mostly that we have to have it

    >The current rate of about 1000 total Russian casualties per day (based on Ukrainian estimates) translates to 620 dead per day, 18,600 per month, and 226,300 per year. If Ukraine can achieve their goal of 50,000 Russian casualties per month, that translates to 372,000 Russians killed in action per year. Reaching that goal is predicated on boosting drone production to 10 million FPVs per year.

I just find this so tough to believe. A whole medium sized Midwestern city, wiped off the map every year. How is Russia currently sustaining these losses? Are there crippled vets on the streets of their cities? That’s just such massive losses, and the lack of stories we have leaking out of Russia makes the numbers hard to believe. It is also really sad that we’re just calculating these numbers of hundreds of thousands dead so methodically. I know it’s the business of war but it’s a shitty business. Fuck putin for starting this war, fuck the Russian elites for not wiping him off the face of the map. How can Russia ever hope to integrate back into the world after this?
