British news are covering for paedophiles

Okay, so this is a minor conspiracy theory. No aliens, religions or world governments. It's about one particular news story which was covered in an odd way.

Corinna Smith was married to Michael Baines for 38 years. Smith had 3 children – two with someone else and one with Baines. In 2007, her son Craig ended his own life. Before he did so, he alleged that Baines had been sexually abusing him. Smith didn't believe him. The next day he was dead by his own hand.

Fast forward to 2021 and her daughter confirms that what Craig said was true. That Baines was sexually abusive. At least towards Craig and maybe towards this unnamed daughter too.

So while Michael Baines was sleeping, who was 80 years old at this point, Corinna Smith boils a garden bucket full of water, adds 3kg of sugar, and pours it all over him. He died in agony weeks later.

So the first interesting thing is that a lot of this context of the allegations against Baines are not in most of the news reports. Now, these were never tested in court so they remain unproven allegations. But they do provide important context for why Smith felt compelled to do this.

Absolutely no mention of why she did what she did. You're led to believe she is a monster.

It mentions a rumour that she had heard but not what the rumour was. Why do you think that is?

And then there is the sentence – murder instead of manslaughter. Why not manslaughter? I think if I heard that my partner of 38 years had abused one of my children, and he told me and I did nothing, and he ended himself, I'd be more than a little upset. I'd probably do what she did. But would it be murder? I kinda don't think so.

And note that this was a trial by judge, not jury. I think a jury of her peers would have convicted her of manslaughter. She's in prison for 12 years now.
