Good. They have consistently laid off thousands of workers at once and then turned around and asked for as many if not more of the visas the next day. At it’s best, its completely tone deaf optics, at worst, it’s deliberate replacement.

And I’ll never forget my experience interviewing with them. One of my interviewers was from the primary beneficiary country and he was verbally abusive, melted down because I didn’t want to code in Java for a /JavaScript/ job, and was extremely difficult to understand. And when I complained to the recruiter I was brushed off as: “Sometimes cultural friction indicates a bad fit.”

No, you dumb cooze, he was legitimately insulting and berating. And I far from the only American tech worker who has these stories about interviewers from that cohort.

  2. >”Vance accused Microsoft of using foreign workers to replace American employees, saying the company laid off 6,000 U.S. workers last year while benefiting from 6,300 H-1B visas and nearly 3,000 green cards.”

Now that does sound suspicious. Microsoft was even able to hire additional people with the money they saved.

  3. It’s not just Microsoft. Adobe, Cognizant, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (Tata), Wipro, HCLTech (HCL), and Capgemini can’t apply for new perm applications if I’m reading this correctly.

This is huge for the American tech sector. If you’ve worked in the US tech sector you know exactly how big this is.
